How to fight him?
This question has divided United supporters since the news of Glazer's acquisition of the club was announced.
How can we fight this parasite, how can we stop him destroying our club and force him out the door? Unfortunately, this has been the focus of some bitter arguments, reds almost fighting other reds over the best way to defeat this man, when the time for us to be United is right now, more than ever before. There are 2 main schools of thought on the way to do this.
The first is a total boycott. Refuse to renew season tickets, never set foot in the stadium again. Boycott any and all MUFC related products, as well as those of their sponsors. Total denial of revenue streams. Stop the money coming into
Glazer, and this will bring him down.
The second option is to stay and fight from within. Although renewing a season ticket will put some £500 in the pocket of Malcolm
Glazer, refusing to buy any merchandising or products inside the stadium
will mean that a twice a season day-tripper will not be able to get into that seat,
and that is the sort of person who would spend a lot of money in the Megastore and the stadium.
To add to all this is the FC United angle. Some of the pro-boycott lobby are trying to get a new football club off the ground, called FC United. It is seen to be of a similar idea to AFC Wimbledon, a return to the grass roots of football.
I am not going to make too much comment on which way is the right way to fight
Glazer. I can see pluses and minuses for all of the approaches being put forward. My concern is with the fact that already, at the start of the battle United fans are already divided. We are anything BUT United. There seems to be far too much arguing going on between United fans, thus detracting from the REAL fight, that of getting rid of Malcolm
Glazer and getting our football club back.
